It's spring and Mag is thinking about the prospect of holding a summer concert. Thus she needs to think about a program for it, and so she's sitting in the library, surrounded by sheet music that she's sorting through, looking for arias and songs that she knows.

She's considering putting up an announcement on the bulletin board, announcing that she's looking for a few good musicians, but she's happy for someone to chat with about music, and she's open to the diversion.

Looking for Natalie Goodman, but if someone else wants Mag, feel free to tap the typist.

Natalie's in the library too, putting back a book on music theory, when she sees Mag with the sheet music.

"Are you looking for something?" she asks.

She'll look up with a smile, her peculiarly brilliant blue eyes friendly. "Oh, probably a fair number of somethings," she says. "I'm planning a concert in the summer and I'm looking for a few good songs.

"I'm Magdalen DeFoe, but please, call me Mag."

Natalie smiles. "Maybe I can help? I'm a musician. And my name's Natalie."

"Oh, I think I recognize your face," she says, with a smile. "You play the keyboard for a band that's performed here?" she asks. "I was at your debut show: you're marvelous."

She grins.

"Wow, thanks! That's like, totally cool of you to say."

"Yes, I'm a musician myself, so it's a pleasure to find people with a similar passion," she says. "I sing mostly opera, but I sing many types of music. I'm planning a summer concert and I've been looking for a few more new songs to add to my repetoire."

"That sounds really neat!" she replies. "What type of music are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for a few songs from Broadway musicals, something I haven't done before," she says. "There's a lot of material to cover, it seems, but there's a joy in that, the joy of discovery."

She nods. "Yeah, totally. What sort of musicals? I guess there's like, a lot..."

"Something romantic, but something with substance," she says. "Something more solid than a Viennese operetta, but something that still warms the heart and soul."

"Well, maybe West Side Story?" she suggests. "That's a total classic in America, so."

She beams. "I'd forgotten that one, but it's been a while since I'd last heard it," she says, and she'll rummage among one pile of scores. "Would you be interested in performing with me? I'd be glad to perform with your band, if they don't mind."

"Oh, that'd be so cool!" she says, grinning.

"Do you think that your companions would be happy to join in? I promise I won't be too serious for them," she says. "Your front man and your drummer both seem quite the characters."

Because she's dead, she can see Ryuk: in her eyes, he looks like he's had some very creative surgery.

She smiles. "I can totally talk to them about it!"

"I'd like to meet them, too, but I can wait till they've warmed up to the idea," she says.

This is starting to sound like the start of an extravaganza.

Natalie grins. "They're cool, totally cool. I'm sure they'd be fine with the idea."

"Would you mind much if my regular accompanist were to join us, or at least, performed some of the operatic numbers?" she asked. "She's a rather guarded woman, but she's an artist in her own right."

"Oh, that's fine!" Natalie says, clearly enthused.

"Then it's a plan: I'll talk to her about it and I will let you know when I can set a date," she says.

"It will be, and it already is," she says, with a grin.
